The Alabama Channel is a project of the League of Women Voters of Alabama Education Fund. It is a video resource library for Alabamians to view live, recorded and indexed footage of Alabama’s Legislative meetings.

Mission: The Alabama Channel provides simple, searchable videos of Alabama’s Legislative meetings to promote civic awareness and public participation in Alabama’s state government.

Alabama’s current legislature live-streams meetings, but does not record them for later viewing. We believe every citizen should have access to not only live but recorded footage of legislative meetings. An important component of The Alabama Channel is the ability to quickly and easily search through meeting footage to locate bills or issues of importance to viewers.

The League of Women Voters of Alabama (LWVAL) Education Fund (the Fund) was authorized in 1984 by the League of Women Voters of the United States as a companion organization to the LWVAL General Fund.  The Fund was established under the provisions of Section 501 (c) (3) of the United States Revenue Code of 1954 and is organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes, and for other charitable, scientific, and literary purposes, primarily in and for the benefit of communities in Alabama.  It is dedicated to voter education and ensuring all citizens are registered to vote and able to exercise their right to vote.  The Fund does not influence specific legislation or participate or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office or be partisan in its approach to political campaigns.

The League of Women Voters is always strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes political parties or candidates for office at any level of government. The League makes a difference at every level of government because of the energy and passion of thousands of members around the country who work together to safeguard our democracy.
